Types of wrinkles

Wrinkles are not all the same, and Botox is particularly effective against dynamic wrinkles. These are the wrinkles that form as a result of muscle movement and facial expressions. They become more pronounced over time due to repetitive actions like smiling, frowning, or raising the eyebrows.

Botox can work wonders on dynamic wrinkles by relaxing the underlying muscles, thus reducing the appearance of these lines. However, Botox may not be as effective for static wrinkles, which are wrinkles that are present even when your face is at rest. For such wrinkles, other treatments such as dermal fillers may be more suitable.

How does Botox work?

Botox works by blocking signals between nerves and muscles. The active ingredient, Botulinum Toxin, temporarily paralyses the muscles, preventing them from contracting and causing wrinkles. The result is a smoother, more youthful appearance without the need for invasive surgical procedures.

Botox for Jaw Reduction

In recent years, Botox has gained popularity beyond wrinkle reduction for its ability to enhance facial aesthetics. One such application is using Botox for jaw reduction.

If you have a square or overly prominent jawline due to overactive jaw muscles, Botox can help you achieve a more balanced facial appearance. The treatment involves injecting Botox into the masseter muscles, which are responsible for square jaw.

Over time, these muscles become less bulky, leading to a slimmer jawline. This is particularly popular among those looking to achieve a softer, more feminine facial contour. Botox for jaw reduction is a non-invasive alternative to surgical procedures, offering impressive results with minimal downtime.

Botox for Face Slimming

Face slimming with Botox is another sought-after procedure. It involves targeting specific facial muscles responsible for a wider or rounder face shape. By strategically injecting Botox into these muscles, we can achieve a more contoured and slimmer facial appearance.

This treatment is particularly appealing to those who desire a V-shaped face, which is considered a symbol of beauty in many cultures. Using Botox for face slimming is a safe and effective way to achieve your desired facial contour without the need for surgery.

What’s the difference between Botox and Dysport Treatment?

While both Botox and Dysport are neurotoxins used for cosmetic purposes, there are subtle differences. Dysport tends to have a quicker onset of action, and the units used in each treatment may vary. The choice between the two often depends on individual preferences and desired outcomes.

At Clarion Aesthetics, we can help you determine which of these options is better suited to your specific needs. Rest assured, whether you opt for Botox or Dysport, you can expect exceptional results from our skilled team.

What’s the difference between Botox and Fillers?

Botox and fillers serve different purposes in achieving a more youthful appearance. While Botox relaxes muscles to reduce wrinkles, dermal fillers add volume to areas with sagging or lost volume. That way, Botox is ideal for dynamic wrinkles, and fillers are suitable for static wrinkles and areas with volume loss.

How long does a Botox treatment take?

The procedure typically takes only a short amount of time, often around 15 to 30 minutes, making it a convenient option for individuals with busy schedules.

During the procedure, your doctor will inject small amounts of botulinum toxin into specific muscles in your treatment areas. The procedure is quick and virtually painless, with most patients experiencing only mild discomfort, if any, during the injection process.

Most patients can resume their daily activities immediately after the treatment, with minimal to no downtime. This means you can achieve noticeable results without the need for a lengthy recovery period.

How Long Do Botox Results Last?

The duration of Botox results varies from person to person. Typically, the effects last between 3 to 6 months. Regular maintenance sessions can extend the longevity of results. Our practitioners will guide you on the optimal schedule for touch-up treatments to maintain your desired look.

How do you find a credible Botox clinic in Singapore?

Finding a credible Botox clinic in Singapore is important to ensure that the treatments you receive are safe and effective.

To start, it's best to research clinics online and read reviews from customers who have had experience with them. You can also for word of mouth referrals from friends and family.

It's also important to check your doctors’ qualifications; they should be certified by the Ministry of Health (MOH) or accredited by the Singapore Medical Council (SMC). Additionally, look for clinics that use quality branded products and those that have lots of experience with Botox treatments.

Do I need to go back for a check-up after getting botox?

While a follow-up check-up is not mandatory, we encourage our clients to return if they have any concerns or if they are considering additional treatments. Our practitioners are dedicated to ensuring your satisfaction, and your feedback is invaluable in tailoring future treatments to your evolving aesthetic goals.

How Does Botox Work for Excessive Sweating?

Botox is not limited to addressing facial wrinkles. It is also an effective solution for excessive sweating, a condition known as hyperhidrosis. By blocking nerve signals to the sweat glands, Botox can reduce sweating in targeted areas, providing relief for those struggling with overactive sweat glands. The results can last for several months, providing much-needed relief from the discomfort and embarrassment of excessive sweating.

Botox Singapore FAQs

  • Botox can be used for other medical conditions in addition to treating wrinkles. Botox can help reduce excessive sweating and stop teeth grinding. It is also a good supplement to other treatments like laser treatments and facial treatments.

  • The area to be treated is often numbed with a cream. Controlled amounts of botox are then injected into the area using a thin needle. The number of injections needed depends on many factors, including the extent of the area being treated.

  • Apart from a little bruising, there is technically no downtime. You might see some small red bumps at first, but they usually disappear within an hour. And you can go back to work without anyone knowing.

  • The most common areas are forehead lines, frown lines, crow’s feet, and jaw region. There are other different applications, such as Dermalift or Mesobotox, that are more suitable for other areas.

  • One treatment session with a follow-up appointment is usually enough.

  • In the right hands, botox is a very safe procedure, and the discomfort felt is minimal. We will use numbing cream before the injection to minimise any pain you may feel.

  • You should start to see results within 4 - 7 days. The skin will feel tighter, and there will be less movement and wrinkles in the injected areas.

  • On average, most results last for about 6 months.

  • Mainly those with dynamic wrinkles (wrinkles that appear when expressing emotions), but a consultation with a doctor is recommended first.

  • There are some rare side effects, such as a headache, minor bruising, or swelling at the injection site. However, most people do not experience any side effects. If you are concerned, we would be happy to discuss them with you during your consultation.

  • We recommend avoiding botox treatments during pregnancy and while nursing.
